Semi-open

June 26th, 2008

About a year after closing, Vanimeldë is sort of back open. I won’t be blogging here anymore, but all of the old posts will remain online. I like to read my old blog posts sometimes, so I decided to open this blog up again. I have turned off the comments, though, because I don’t wanted to get spammed again. If you want to read my current blog entries, you can visit my Livejournal account: idril_lalaith.

Mmmm…

Heh, heh, it’s been a while, hasn’t it? I just haven’t felt like blogging much lately. Which is somewhat ironic because I’ve had more to blog about recently that I usually do.

So, towards the end of May, my parents, Aunt Kathy, sister, and I drove up to Colorado for my cousin’s wedding. It was like a 1500 mile drive. Thankfully, we took it over two days, so it wasn’t too bad. We spent one night in Gallup, New Mexico. I figured, since it’s fairly well known, it would be a moderately sized town, right? Wrong. It could hardly even be called a town, lol. Colorado Springs was nice, but it was a lot colder than I expected. It snowed the night before the wedding! The wedding was outside, too. I felt bad for the bridesmaids, they all had sleeveless dresses.

In other news, I had my birthday about a month ago. It actually fell on Memorial Day this year. I got a digital camera! It’s very nice. I got some pretty good pics in Colorado. I’ll have to upload them sometime. We didn’t do much to celebrate my birthday, though, despite the fact that it was a pretty important age. Which leads me into my next topic…

My grandmother is very ill. She has inoperable ovarian cancer. (This isn’t the one who almost died last summer, though; this is my maternal grandmother.) She isn’t in an awful lot of pain, thankfully. Hopefully she’ll be starting chemo therapy in the next few weeks. She’s almost 82, though, so it may be pretty hard on her. I would appreciate it if you kept her in your prayers.

Well, I guess that’s it. I’ll try to blog a little bit more often. I just find myself loosing interest in certain aspects of the internet, blogging among them.

Le sigh

April 29th, 2007

I’m bored. I should probably go do something semi-constructive and work on my sites, but I don’t feel like it. I haven’t felt like working on my sites for a long time. Except my trading post, but that doesn’t really count. Maybe I’m getting a little tired of web design. Or maybe I’m just tired of putting work into sites that no one visits. The LOTR fandom is dying (has been for quite some time), so my LOTR sites don’t get any hits. But LOTR is the only fandom I feel “qualified” to make a site for. You know what I mean?

I guess I’m mostly just worn out from school. I didn’t do a ridiculous amount of school work this past week, but it feels like I did. I guess its because I started to read a book for my book analysis on Friday the 20th and I submitted the book analysis for that same book on the 27th. Plus, Mom said that she didn’t think I did what Seton really wanted on the last part of the analysis. She said my writing was fine, but it just wasn’t what Seton would want. I lost my temper a bit about that. But I submitted the analysis anyways. So we’ll see what kind of grade I get.

Last Saturday (the 21st), I went to an Open House at John Paul Catholic University in San Diego. I think that may be the college I want to go to. It’s brand new (it just started in Fall 2006) and it only has two majors right now. But it is a good Catholic college and it’s so much closer than the other colleges I was thinking about going to. All the other good Catholic colleges either offer only a Liberal Arts degree (which isn’t readily applicable to anything, except maybe teaching, which I can’t really see myself doing) or are in a place where it snows. I’m a baby, and I’d probably die if I had to deal with snow. :P So, yeah, JPCU might be a good fit for me. I’m going there for a week in July to attend a summer program for high schoolers. I’ll be staying in the dorms for five days and five nights with complete strangers. I’m worried that I won’t be able to do it. I’m such a baby. *sigh*

Saw Meet the Robinsons yesterday. It was better than I thought it would be, but it was very odd in places. I am so sick of seeing ads for that movie Evan Almighty. It feels like I’ve seen at least one every time I’ve been to the movie theaters for a year. I’m sick of movies that poke fun at God and Christianity.

I guess that’s it for right now.

A Fascinating Entry

April 15th, 2007

It’s about time I blog again, huh? I just haven’t felt like blogging lately. I have nothing to say. :P

LOTRO is fun, but I haven’t been playing it an awful lot. Because it’s still in beta it is a bit buggy. At least I hope that’s due to the fact that the game is in beta, and not due to my compy. It seems to get better every time I log on.

I had something semi-interesting I wanted to blog about, and now I’ve forgotten. Darn.

It’s been sooooo nice to be able to play video games again! The first couple of days after Easter I was reveling in being able to hold a controller again. Mom and Dad gave both me and my sister Wii points for Easter, so I got The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (I don’t care that I already have it :P) and Mario Kart 64. So I played those for a couple of days and then I got my rental from Gamefly (which is the best thing ever), which is for Gameboy Advanced. It’s called Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones. It’s a strategy-type game. It’s fun.

OK, I’m all out of riveting blog topics. :P I guess I’ll sign off now. I’ll try to post again soon. :)

Larien, thanks. :)

Woot!

March 31st, 2007

I got my grade back for my Columbus report. I couldn’t believe I got it back so quickly, lol. Anyways, I got a 98! Yes, I am very pleased. *grins*

You know, Nintendo really bugs me sometimes. Mario Party 8 was supposed to come out the first week of March. I had no intention of buying/renting it right away because I gave up video games for Lent. So, I forgot about it for a while. Then I realized that I hadn’t seen it in any stores. I wondered what was up, so I looked up the game online. It’s been pushed back until May 31! Nintendo seems to be making a habit of pushing their best games back a lot. *cough*TwilightPrincess*cough*

The beta testing for LOTRO opened for the people who pre-ordered yesterday. But, since I gave up video games, I can’t play it yet. *sigh* I’ll definitely be playing it tomorrow, though! I’m really looking forward to it. Thankfully, there’s only a little more than a week left to Lent.

Well… I can’t think of anything else to say. My blogs have been getting much shorter lately. :P

Larien, if RK has ever been associated with Jack Black, I never knew about it, lol. They’re a Christian band, so I wouldn’t be surprised if you had never heard of them. That’s a beautiful new entry page at GL.com, by the way. :D
Laura, domains can be purchased for pretty cheap sometimes, especially if you don’t need much space. But I can see not wanting to buy a whole domain just for a blog, lol.
